1-step vs 2-step challenges: which should you buy?

One-step challenges ask you to hit a single profit target, usually around 10%, before you are funded. Two-step challenges split that into two phases, often 8% then 5%.

The trade-off

1-step evaluations usually come with tighter drawdown (for example 4% daily and 6% max at BlueCandle Capital), while 2-step programs such as AlphaFunded allow 5% daily and 10% max.

Price

1-step challenges are often a little more expensive for the same account size. Compare the price after discount codes on the challenges page.

Our take

If your strategy has deep intraday swings, the looser limits of a 2-step challenge are usually worth the extra phase. If you trade small, consistent setups, a 1-step can save weeks.
